FAQ

Tout ce que vous devez savoir sur le PDF Find & Auto-Redact.

How is this different from the Smart PDF PII Censor?

The Smart PII Censor lets you manually click and draw redaction boxes over specific areas. This tool automates the process — you type a word or pattern and it finds and blacks out every single instance across the entire document in one operation.

Is the redaction permanent?

Yes. We use pdf-lib to draw opaque black rectangles directly on the PDF's content layer, over the exact coordinates of the matched text. The original text is not simply hidden — the output PDF file contains no recoverable text under the black bars.

What does Auto-detect do?

Auto-detect runs local language analysis over the document text to find person names, organisation names, and place names. It pre-fills the search list with every detected entity so you can review and redact them all with one click — no typing required.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

No. Scanned PDFs are images without a searchable text layer. This tool can only redact text that exists as actual PDF text objects. Use an OCR tool first if you have a scanned document.
